Province building network of partners and volunteers to help protect communities during emergencies and natural disasters

The Ontario government is expanding Ontario Corps by welcoming its latest partner, Labatt Breweries of Canada. Through Ontario Corps, the province is delivering on its plan to protect Ontario by creating a network of partners and a corps of dedicated volunteers ready to respond to local emergencies and deploy critical resources at a moment’s notice.

“Our government is thrilled to welcome Labatt as one of the first private-sector organizations to become an Ontario Corps partner,” said Jill Dunlop, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response. “By leveraging Labatt’s supplies, personnel and expertise, we will be well equipped to keep Ontario safe, practiced and prepared for whatever comes our way.”

As part of the agreement, Labatt could be called on during wildland fires, floods and other emergencies to donate supplies and resources to impacted communities such as cans of clean drinking water, trucks, drivers, cardboard boxes, forklifts, pallets, refrigeration facilities as well as access to large facilities. The company also has the capabilities to retool its machines to produce hand sanitizer and other essentials in the event of an emergency.
