October 20 to 26, 2024 is Small Business Week!
This Small Business Week, and throughout Small Business Month, we celebrate the ambition, entrepreneurial spirit and determination of small business owners and their businesses across the province. Ontario’s more than 400,000 small businesses are the backbone of our communities, employing more than 2 million Ontarians.
Our government is ensuring small businesses have the tools and supports they need to grow and thrive.
Ontario’s over 400,000 small businesses are the backbone of communities across the province, fueling the economy and employing more than 2 million people.
Small businesses make up 98% of all businesses in the province.
From family-owned corner stores to brand new start-ups, everyone knows a small business that has made a difference in their community.
By lowering taxes, reducing electricity costs, and cutting red tape, we’ve delivered an estimated $8 billion in cost savings and support for Ontario employers, with $3.7 billion directly impacting small businesses.
In our 2024 budget we announced a total investment of over $13 million over the next two years in our Starter Company Plus program and invested over $4.5 million over two years in our Summer Company program.
Ontario has proudly partnered with the Ontario Centre of Innovation to deliver a new Digitalization Competence Centre to help Ontario businesses achieve digital transformation, and Futurpreneur Canada to support the next generation of young entrepreneurs.
Our government is working around the clock to help small businesses succeed because we see first-hand the impact they have. When Ontario’s small businesses prosper, local families thrive, and our economy continues to grow.
